Welcome to Green Light on Washington

Green Light on Washington is a blog featuring personal viewpoints on climate, energy, and environmental concerns by staff and invited guests of the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL), a Quaker lobby in the public interest.

Why “Green Light on Washington”? Since the earliest days of Quakerism, Friends have referred to the divine spark which Friends believe resides within each person as the “Light within.” Since the earliest days of FCNL, Friends have sought to nurture that “Light” in Washington by bringing spiritual values to bear on national legislation, engaging with legislators, and seeking the common good together. For the sake of future generations, the “Light” in Washington must turn Green – toward protecting and restoring the Earth’s life-sustaining capacities.
